A Soundless Cracking Agent; a safe demolition agent.
The material used in Eco-Crack is a cementitious powdery substance and when it is hydrated at an appropriate temperature its quantity expands. In this process, the material is poured into the pre-drilled holes in the rock and the subsequent chemical reaction increases the temperature of the compound. This allows the material to volumetrically expand over a period of several hours. Under the existing confinement in a borehole, this volumetric expansion generates an expansive pressure and when it exceeds the tensile strength of the rock, cracks form.
